There is an analogy to be drawn between computer chips and social progress. As in pentium 1, pentium 2, pentium 3 and on. In the American context, slavery to segregation, and on. It is hard not to get emotionally involved and charged with social issues, but a certain degree of detachment might help the process of progress, taking group dynamics to higher planes. In the human mind, moving from the flat earth to the round earth, or from the sun going round the earth to the opposite, on Darwin's work, or Freud's, all have been just blows to the human ego. The same perhaps awaits doing in group dynamics. So people entrenched in their racist attitudes, not to change, could be compared to some geological formations: the time dimension is paramount to understanding where they come from, and where they are going, or not. Looking at group dynamics, the way one might at ecology, there also is an externalization of the social reality, less as something inside the mind, more as something to be measured. And when numbers come into play, and mathematics comes in, progress catches pace.
